Robert Navan: A Tribute

On behalf of The Advisory Board and entire team at the Irish Chapter of the Network in Defence of Humanity (REDH), I would like to communicate how devasted we are by the sad news of the passing of Robert Navan, who helped to form the Irish Chapter of our organisation, as part of his longstanding and lifelong commitment to anti-imperialism and international solidarity.

We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt sympathies to Robert’s loved ones, friends and comrades. Robert was a truly great man; so brilliant, compassionate, learned and committed. He was the embodiment of all that is good in this world and an example of the values of a better world to come and to which he dedicated himself.

Robert’s kindness, intelligence, humanity and generosity enriched the lives of those who knew him, both in Ireland and across the world, and his virtues and attributes will live on in his shining example, which will continue to inspire all of us to dedicate ourselves to the construction of a better world.

Robert tirelessly worked to defend the revolutions in Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela, to defend all progressive causes across the Americas and the world, and he was crucial to the development of meaningful bonds of solidarity and support that brought people together to advance that shared vision of a more equitable and just world. Robert was a truly great human being whose translucent humanitarian vision will remain our guide.

Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine.

Rest in Peace, dear Robert!

¡Descanse en paz!

Dr Aaron Kelly, on behalf of the Irish Chapter of REDH
